The challenge continues!

Wadsworth CommUnity Challenge: 2,500 = $250,000! As you think about your charitable giving, consider this: if 2,500 people make a gift to EWS before June 30, 2010, Trustee Michal Colby Wadsworth ’65 and husband Jim will add $250,000 to their commitment to Emma Willard. We hope this generous challenge will inspire everyone in the Emma Willard community to join together and support the school. Gifts of any size make a difference, and the impact is especially great when we all participate! To see our progress, please check out the Wadsworth CommUnity Challenge HERE.

Congratulations to the Rev. Ingrid J. Barrett ’66 on the publication of her memoir Reflections from a Clay Jar: a memoir through the eyes of faith.

Congratulations to Mary E. Heimann ’80 on the publication of her second book Czechoslovakia: The State That Failed (New Haven and London, Yale University Press, 2009).

Congratulations to Jennifer Kealy ’81 for organizing the first Expanding Youth Horizons (EYH) Conference in Europe. For over 30 years, EYH has been active in the United States. Its mission is to encourage girls to pursue science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers. The group does this by organizing conferences with "hands on" workshops, led by "real" women scientists. Keep up the great work, Jennifer!

Emma Willard: Small World Stories

While waiting to pick up her party of seven at Bromley Mountain, Betts Howes Murray ’73 was chatted up by Jeb Porter P’10—Jeb is father of Jenny Porter, co-head of Twelve Tones, incredible athlete, and all-round terrific Emma girl. Jenny just gave a masterful performance as a lord in Revels. She is granddaughter of Ruth H. Harvie ’45. Jenny is the tenth member of her family to attend Emma Willard.

If you have Emma “small world” stories, please send them our way!
